how to start with content?
i started content in 2021 with an 12k INR infinix phone.
this was the first video i had created.
since this time, i've created many videos in my niches.
from "counting total words in a book" to "first day in college vlog" to "how to update aadhar card with pan card" to "business case studies videos".
from 2021 to 2024, i've tried a lot of videos. and many types of videos.
(one of many youtube channels i started)
still i didn't see the growth i wanted to see.
each time i felt like "this is not something i wanna be known for" and pivot to something else.
i simply didn't know "what to create in content?"
in september 2025, when i took a decision to work on opensox full time, i wanted to start content again.
but this time i had the learnings of a lot of mistakes, and i knew i need to start with something i know about.
so i started with open source related content.
that worked. i started getting views on my channel and hit 10k subscribers in a couple of months.
in these months, i've learnt that the best way to get started with content is to "start with something you yourself would love to watch".
we all consume content. so ask yourself "what kind of content i like?"
make a list of those contents.
they can be in any niche, any language, any country, etc.
just find what you love most in your favorite content.
and then incorporate that in yours while being original and genuine.
most of us look at someone and see them having millions of subscribers/followers and subconsciously try to replicate their success.
that is the worst thing we can do.
just learn the fundamental elements from them like humor, storytelling, etc and create your own content with those learnings and your authenticity.
my core philosophy of creating content is simple:
create the content that i myself would love to create and watch.
if you aren't excited to write the script, record the video and edit it then probably you aren't creating something you should create.
and most likely it won't work.
so how to find something that makes me excited?
by creating a lot.
get the idea of your first video. create it, upload it and then move to the next one.
in each next video, try to improve one thing (as suggested by mr beast) — idea, thumbnail, editing, voice, script, etc.
and aim to create 100 videos (but not mindlessly.)
